Waterproof Bag for a Buck

The website Daily Steals has your choice of a Waterproof Ipad, Netbooks, eReaders Case Or Waterproof Cell Phone. Camera, MP3 Case for a $1 (plus S&H) today. Just the thing for taking out on a boat trip (or sealing up that ereader against sand and water, while you tote it around). I grabbed one a while back and they seem like a pretty good deal. From examining mine and the pic on today's deal, these seem to be somehing like the TrendyDigital WaterGuard Waterproof Case I see being sold at Amazon (their old design), for $15-$25, depending on the size. They don't lock down as tight as some of the $50 cases (that I'd recommend if you are kayaking down some rapids) and I wouldn't try to read underwater with one, but they should protect from rain showers in your pack or reading by the pool or on the beach. I also wouldn't leave anything out in direct sun in one of these cases, though, as it will act like a greenhouse and probably bake the electronics.

The larger size will hold any of the ereaders comfortably or an iPad, while the smaller case really is only big enough for your cell phone (and/or wallet).

Save $25 on Baby products (KSO)

This offer is for those with selected Kindle Wi-Fi with Special Offers or Kindle 3G + Wi-Fi with Special Offers only. Turn on your wireless, click Menu, Sync & Check for New Items, then on View Special Offers after the sync has completed. You should see this new offer:

Save $25 on $50 of Baby products from Amazon.com

Click on the offer, then click on the link on the offer page sign up and get an email with the promotion code. Sign-up for this offer expires on July 11.

You'll get an email (right away), a link to the Special offer page and a promotion code to enter at checkout. Once you have the promotional code, you have until August 11 to complete your purchase. Like previous offers, this one requires you to use the full checkout process in order to enter your promotional code. Also, like all Amazon sales that use promotional codes, if you have a gift card balance, you must use it for the payment (if there is not a sufficient balance, then you can pick which credit card or other payment to use).

Once again, this offer can be used more than once per accounts, so long as you have more than one KSO registered:
4. Limit one promotional code per device.
Just click on the ad on each device to receive the individual promotion codes via email.

This one may not be easy to find something to use it on; although at first it appears that anything in the Amazon Baby store qualifies, disposable diapers and wipes, formula, baby food, clothing, and baby care items are not eligible for this promotion. That does still leave cloth diapers (some look nothing like the diapers of old, as you can get micro-fiber fleece cloth diapers that are form fitted, with snaps and elastic to fit just like a disposable diaper), amongst other items. I don't know if washcloths are allowed, but there are a few there to search among, along with lotions and gift sets. All the bigger items (cribs, car seats, strollers, etc.) and toys should be included, as well.

If you set a new Baby Registry with at least 10 items, you'll also get entered in the $500 Amazon Gift Certificate Sweepstakes.

Free Book (nook) - The Hunt

The Hunt ($6.39 Kindle), the first title in the Hunt Country series by Jan Neuharth, is this week's Free Friday book from Barnes and Noble.

Book Description
Doug Cummings, an attractive, wealthy lawyer and expert horseman, is riding high at the top of his career. But things change when he becomes the target of a twisted but clever scheme to frame him for murder. When Doug's former lover and then his horse groom are killed, Doug becomes the prime suspect. With the media and local law enforcement breathing down his neck, Doug struggles to protect his loved ones and races to find the killer. But the evidence against Doug mounts until even his own attorney doesn't believe him.

Set in the historic and picturesque Virginia hunt country just outside Washington, "The Hunt" depicts the elite community of Middleburg and its close-kint, foxhunting crowd. Doug wonders whether the locals will band together to stand behind one of their own, or view him as an outcast, and he's stunned to discover where the lines of allegiance are drawn.

The book's compellingly crafted characters include Doug's beautiful but aloof female attorney, who is torn between her feelings for Doug and her uncertainty about his innocence; a spirited little girl whose special bond with Doug makes her the victim of a nightmarish kidnapping scheme; and a belligerent cop whose judgment is clouded by a lifetime of resentment towards the wealthy equestrian gentry.

As the plot twists and turns, "The Hunt" carries the reader on a gripping, fast-paced adventure packed with love, scandal, envy, and vengeance.

Refurbished Kindles back in stock at Amazon

I don't see any refurbished Kindles with Special Offers (yet), but if you are wanting to pick up a Kindle reader at a discount, there are three different refurbished models to choose from, at least, at the moment -- as you know if you've read here for long, these refurbished Kindles can appear and stay for several days or be gone within minutes. I've purchased one refurb in the past and I could not tell the difference between it and a brand new one of the same model that I had purchased earlier. They all come with the same 30-day, no questions asked return policy and have the same one-year warranty as a new Kindle. You should be able to buy an extended warranty on them from Amazon, but I'm not sure about from other vendors (I haven't bothered with an extended warranty on ours, but we always buy a cover and treat them a bit gently - those who toss them about naked or carry them in their hip pockets or have difficulty in holding items should definitely consider the extended warranty). From looking at the prices, which usually are considered to be very close to manufacturing costs on refurbs, it's clear that there still isn't a lot of room for the KSO's to drop in price (but, that can always change, as technology progresses).
