Today's Deals

Austenland ($1.99), a novel by Shannon Hale, is today's Kindle Deal of the Day. She has a new title coming out in January, Midnight in Austenland, but (so far) you can only pre-order it in hardcover.
Book Description
Jane is a young New York woman who can never seem to find the right man-perhaps because of her secret obsession with Mr. Darcy, as played by Colin Firth in the BBC adaptation of Pride and Predjudice. When a wealthy relative bequeaths her a trip to an English resort catering to Austen-obsessed women, however, Jane's fantasies of meeting the perfect Regency-era gentleman suddenly become more real than she ever could have imagined. Is this total immersion in a fake Austenland enough to make Jane kick the Austen obsession for good, or could all her dreams actually culminate in a Mr. Darcy of her own?

The Summoner ($4.79 Kindle; $2.40 B&N), the first title in the Chronicles of the Necromancer by Gail Z. Martin, is the Nook Daily Find. Interestingly, Amazon is matching the incorrect price shown on the Nook Daily Find page (which I suspect is what both stores may charge all the time), not the price shown on the actual product details page for this ebook. If you like the series, the rest of the titles are all under $5 (currently).
Book Description
The comfortable world of Martris Drayke, second son of King Bricen of Margolan, is shattered when his older half-brother, Jared, and Jared¿s dark mage, Foor Arontala, kill the king and seize the throne. Tris is the only surviving member of the royal family aside from Jared the traitor. Tris flees with three friends: Soterius, captain of the guard; Carroway, the court¿s master bard; and Harrtuck, a member of the royal guard. Tris harbors a deep secret. In a land where spirits walk openly and influence the affairs of the living, he suspects he may be the mage heir to the power of his grandmother, Bava K¿aa, once the greatest sorceress of her age. Such magic would make Tris a Summoner, the rarest of magic gifts, capable of arbitrating between the living and the dead.
