This offer is only for those with a Kindle with Special Offers:

Save $5 on Kindle reading lights at Amazon.com

Click on offer, then click on the link on the offer page to receive an email with the promotion code. Sign-up for this offer expires on August 12.

You'll get an email (right away), a link to the Special Offer page and a promotion code to enter at checkout. Once you have the promotional code, you have until September 12 to complete your purchase. Like previous offers, this one requires you to use the full checkout process in order to enter your promotional code. This offer can be used more than once per account, so long as you have more than one KSO registered. Just click on the ad on each device to receive the individual promotion codes via email.

If you don't use a lighted cover, the one accessory that you definitely need is a reading light, at least now and then. My favorite clip on reading light is the Mighty Bright that I picked up a few years ago (it is tremendously brighter than the ones I'd had before). Looking thru the ones available now, I may pick up upgraded version, the Mighty Bright XtraFlex2 Clip-On Light. It does look like it may be a bit heavy (it uses two AAA batteries), but there is a lighter version, the Mighty Bright MiniFlex Clip-On Reading Light for Kindle and one from another company that even comes in colors (graphite, white, turquoise and red!), the Verso Clip-On Reading Light for Kindle.

Updated to add: I just saw a video review of the Belkin Clip-On Reading Light for Kindle (white; also available in black) and I may get one of those, instead. Looks quite bright, uses AAA batteries and has three Super LED's, plus the front section is small enough to use on a naked kindle without obscuring the screen, as some of the others do (note that if you have a case, you can clip to it, behind the Kindle, so the clip length in front isn't as big an issue).Sudoku Unbound #2 ($2.99) is the second volume of 100 Sudoku puzzles from Puzzazz (who also have several other Sudoku like games and smaller collection sets of Sudoku available on Kindle).
Game Description
More Sudoku fun from Puzzazz! Featuring the same hand-built puzzle experience of the original Sudoku Unbound, this second edition gives you 100 additional carefully crafted Sudoku puzzles -- some of the best Sudoku puzzles you'll find anywhere.

This puzzle collection from Puzzazz gives you a great solving experience right on the page. You can use in-cell notes as you solve, just like you do on paper. If you're stuck, move on to a different puzzle -- you can always turn back to that page later. Or, get a hint and keep going.

You'll be both challenged and delighted by this book of puzzles that fit your personal skill level, because you can change from easy to medium to hard or back at any time. Whatever your skill and solving style, you'll appreciate the difference a well-designed puzzle can make. Enjoy!

Free Music and KSO Reminder

First, a reminder that today is the last day to take advantage of your $8.00 discount on MP3's, if you signed up for the $1 MP3 Album offer. As I and others discovered, although you could get any album up to $9.00 for a $1.00, the rest of the $8.00 credit stayed on your account, dropping any other album purchases down by the amount of the credit (although each album cost a minimum of $1), until the credit was exhausted. If you've been hanging on to the credit, not knowing what to buy, tonight is your last chance to find a great bargain.

For the rest of us, I've turned up a bargain classical collection and a few free albums and singles that seem worth downloading. From X5 Music Group, another of their 99 Essential collection, The 99 Most Essential Beethoven Masterpieces, is marked down to $3.89 right now. Nearly 16 hours of music for about the price of a latte!

These are all currently free and recent additions to the MP3 store:

Free Book (iBooks) - In Her Shoes

In Her Shoes ($11.99 Kindle), by Jennifer Weiner, is free in the iBooks store. This one was a bit tricky to find (it doesn't show up in a search), but if you use the link below, you should go straight to it.
Book Description
Meet Rose Feller. She's thirty years old and a high-powered attorney with a secret passion for romance novels. She has an exercise regime she's going to start next week, and she dreams of a man who will slide off her glasses, gaze into her eyes, and tell her that she's beautiful. She also dreams of getting her fantastically screwed-up little sister to get her life together.

Meet Rose's sister, Maggie. Twenty-eight years old, drop-dead gorgeous and only occasionally employed, Maggie sings backup in a band called Whiskered Biscuit. Although her dreams of big-screen stardom haven't progressed past her left hip's appearance in a Will Smith video, Maggie dreams of fame and fortune -- and of getting her dowdy big sister to stick to a skin-care regime.

These two women with nothing in common but a childhood tragedy, shared DNA, and the same size feet, are about to learn that their family is more different than they ever imagined, and that they're more alike than they'd ever believe. In Her Shoes -- Jennifer Weiner's follow-up to her critically acclaimed debut, Good in Bed -- observes Rose and Maggie, the brain and the beauty, as they make journeys of discovery that take them from the streets of Philadelphia to Ivy League libraries to a "retirement community for active seniors" in Boca Raton. Along the way, they'll encounter a wild cast of characters -- from a stepmother who's into recreational Botox to a small, disdainful pug with no name. They'll borrow shoes and clothes and boyfriends, and make peace with their most intimate enemies -- each other.

Funny and poignant, richly detailed and wrenchingly real, In Her Shoes will speak to anyone who has endured the bonds of big -- or little -- sisterhood, or longed for a life different from the one the world has dictated, and dreamed of trying something else on for size.
