StoryBundle has a new group of ebooks you can buy at a bargain price, which you determine. The minimum you can pay is one dollar (to cover the payment processing fees) and you can pay any amount over that, but those that pay $8 or more get two bonus books in this bundle. The books are DRM-free, so you can convert as needed.

Here are the current books in the bundle:
On the Riverside of Promise by Vasileios Kalampakas
Unsettling May Have Occurred by The Editors of Damn Interesting
Hunting in Hell by Maria Violante
The Select by F. Paul Wilson
The Hour Before Dark by Douglas Clegg
The Disciple, Part I by L. Blankenship

If you pay more than the bonus price of just $8, you get two bonus books, which are:

The Halo Effect by M.J. Rose

Already Bought a Kindle Fire 8.9? Get a $50 Refund!

If you already bought a Kindle Fire HD 8.9" this year, you can get a $50 refund if you call Kindle Support TODAY ONLY, while the Deal of the Day promotion is still active, and ask for it. If you bought more than one, you can get a $50 refund for each one that you still have (in case you've returned one, you can't get a further refund on it; if you had to have a replacement sent, though, you can still get the refund on the original purchase).

The reason you can get this refund is that all Kindles have a 30-day no-questions-asked return policy and Amazon doesn't want to handle a large number of returns and ship out new units, just so you can get a price match.

If you are on Twitter or Facebook - be sure to ReTweet or LIKE this post and let your friends know that they can get this refund. It's only valid today and only for as long as they have the promotion active (if they sell out early, the refunds stop when they take down the deal).

Kindle Fire HD 8.9" $249!

Today only, save $50 on Kindle Fire HD 8.9" (now $249) or Kindle Fire HD 8.9" 4G LTE Wireless (now $449), by entering promotional code FIREHD89 at checkout. They've been showing that this was the week that these would be back in stock and now they are ready to start shipping them out in time for Christmas

There are some restrictions, which work out to basically one per customer (account), only those sold by Amazon (no third party sellers or used), and only until the number they've set aside for the promotion sell out. Although only the base models are shown on the deals page, the wording says on any model, so the $50 discount should work on the ones with more than the base RAM configurations, as well.

Limit one discount per customer. U.S. customers only. Discount valid on all versions of Kindle Fire HD 8.9” sold and shipped by Amazon. It does not apply to the same products sold by other sellers. Amazon reserves the right to cancel the promotion at any time. Promo codes may not be combined with other offers. If you return items purchased using a promo code, we will subtract the value of the discount from your return credit. Offer not valid with 1-Click ordering. Void where prohibited,

Daily Deals

Don't forget to register for the gift card giveaway on Amazon's 12 Days of Book Deals promotion page. Today's book is a $2.99 hardcover that kids would enjoy.

Today's Audible Daily Deal is a new Tom Clancy novel for $9.95.

Over at Amazon, they are having dance, fitness and other video games all day for their Lightning deals

If you are driving by Starbucks, they have those stainless steel tumblers I mentioned on sale for half-price today ($9.95 instead of $20) and you can get a dollar or two off any lb. of Christmas blend coffee if purchased with a tumbler.

So, if you know of any other good deals that are today only, be sure to post them in the comments.

Get a Holiday MP3 Album for $1.99

Thru Tuesday, or until they sell out, you can get a Free Voucher to Purchase One Top Holiday Title for $1.99 on Amazon MP3 at AmazonLocal. You do have to go thru a "purchase", which means having a credit card on file, but you aren't charged for the voucher itself. Once your voucher is ready, you open it (at AmazonLocal), apply it to your account, then go shopping for one of the eligible titles in the Amazon MP3 store. Click to buy the MP3 album and you'll only be charged $1.99.

Various rules apply, including that your must be a US customer at Amazon and the voucher expires if not used by Dec 2.

If you wish to give an album as a gift, the credit will be applied; you can see it on the very last page before you finalize the order (unlike with book gifts, any gift balance is used first). I also suggest you first check your credit balance in the MP3 store (you can do this on any song or album, there is a link just under the buy button) and use up any existing credits first, so that they don't try to mix with the voucher. I've had trouble with this in the past and had to get Amazon involved in order to get my credits back.

Get $10 of $50 Purchase (KSO)

This offer is only for those with a Kindle Fire with Special Offers (KFSO), although it looks like you can somehow get this using the Mobile shopping app on any Kindle fire.

From the home page of your KFSO, swipe the top menu to the left until you see Offers, then press/click in order to see the current offers. At the bottom, you should see the offer for Spend $50 or more today. Get $10 off later. Click on the offer and a gift chooser game comes up - play it if you want (it suggested a cookbook for me!) or click on the link in the middle of the page to get the special code you need for the deal.

The big catch on this deal, is that you must use a Citi card during checkout (no shopping from the Fire itself on this deal) and enter the promo code CIT2KNDL.
Make a qualifying purchase between now and Dec 1 and you'll get a promo code in email later (by Dec 18), which expires Jan 14. It also looks like the promo code you get will require a $50 purchase also, as well as the use of the Citi card again.

Reading the instructions on this one is an exercise in linguistics, but it clearly says (near the end) that you must have either a Kindle Fire or Kindle Fire HD with Special Offers on your account at the time of BOTH qualifying purchases. Ouch. Also, I suspect that although all of last year's Kindle Fires meet the linguistics required, that they don't qualify simply because Amazon now calls them by another name. You also won't get any actual confirmation, that I can see, that the first qualifying purchase has occurred, other than getting a promo code more than two weeks later.

In any case, it's not that big of a discount, but if you use a Citi card anyway, it works out to $10 off a combined purchase of >$100. Also, make sure you buy something you won't return on the second purchase, since the discount will be subtracted from any refund (so, food is a good choice, usually).

Kindle Fire Lightning Deal - $129

While they last, the current Lightning Deal at Amazon is for a Kindle Fire - 7" LCD Display, Wi-Fi, 8GB for only $129 - that's $30 off.

Note that this is NOT the new HD Kindle Fire, but the older generation hardware (essentially) with an updated interface.

Get an MP3 Album for $5 (KSO)

This offer is only for those with a Kindle with Special Offers (including any that opts in to Special Offers, but not the Kindle Fire with Special Offers):

Get a select music album for $5

To take advantage of this offer:
  1. First, turn on your Kindle with Special Offers, click Menu, then View Special Offers.
  2. Find the offer: Get a select music album for $5. Click on it, then on the link to Email Me This Offer. You must claim your gift code by Midnight PT, November 4, 2012.
  3. You will get an email from Amazon with your promotional code, right away.
  4. Once you have the promotion code (and have selected your album; see below), click this link, then on the button labeled Enter Your Code, at any time up to the expiration date of 11:59 p.m. (PT) November 11, 2012.
  5. Enter your code and follow the directions.
  6. Choose any MP3 album under $10 and you'll only be charged $5
  7. (up to the expiration date of Midnight, Nov 11).
You'll have a promotion code on your account that will apply to the FIRST album you buy after that (even if it usually costs less than $5). You should save the code and not enter it until you are ready to buy an album (I find this also helps me remember if I've used a code - when I go to apply it, if it isn't accepted, I know I've used that offer).

This promo can't be combined with any others, but you can shop from your Kindle Fire Music App after you've entered the code (although I greatly prefer doing so from my desktop -- in fact, if you buy it as a gift and send it to yourself, you'll see that the promo has been applied when you get the the final confirmation page). I had a lot of problems with the last MP3 promo that Amazon had (the $3 album on the Kindle Fire) and it was because I already had some MP3 credit on my account (from Coinstar). As a result, the fixed-price album promo combined with that credit (which it isn't supposed to do) and I was overcharged for the album (using nearly $8 in credit for a "$3 album"). So, first make sure you use up any MP3 credits (don't worry about a gift card balance; that won't cause an issue), then enter your promo code and buy your $5 album.

30% Off Select Kindle Accessories (KSO)

This offer is only for those with a Kindle with Special Offers (including any Kindle Touch or Kindle Keyboard that opts in to Special Offers, but not the Kindle Fire with Special Offers):

30% Off Select Kindle Accessories

Click on the offer, then click on the link on the offer page sign up and you'll get an email(right away) with the promotion code. This offer is good for one book and only one per account (if you have multiple KSO devices, they need to be registered to different accounts before you sign up to get the promotion code emails; every Kindle on an account gets flagged when you sign up for the special offer and they will all get the same code for that promotion from then on). Sign-up for this offer expires October 28, 2012, and the promo code must be used by November 4.

The email will contain a link to the promotion page. You'll need to add the items you select to your cart, then use the full check out process and enter the Promo code on the summary page (it's not automatic, like the Kindle Fire promo and you can't use one-click and get the discount).

There are a number of sleeves and covers on the promotion page, along with an A/C charger plug at 50% off the $19.99 list price (so, you would get an additional 30% off the $9.99 sale price), which you may need if you've bought one of the current Kindle models (which no longer comes with a A/C charger). Unlike the Fire promos, this discount works a single time on a single order - but you can add a couple of covers and a charger plug or two the same order before you checkout.

30% Off Select Kindle Styluses & Stands (KSO)

This offer is only for those with a Kindle Fire with Special Offers (KFSO).

From the home page of your KFSO, swipe the top menu to the left until you see Offers, then press/click in order to see the current offers. At the bottom, you should see the offer for 30% Off Select Kindle Styluses & Stands. Click on the offer, then on the orange button to add the credit directly to your account. It's nearly instant and the next screen offers to take you to Amazon so you can spend that credit away! If you miss that screen, though, don't worry - a document about the offer will appear on your home page. You must sign up by October 28 to get this promo discount.

Choose one or more Kindle Accessories that are both shipped and sold by Amazon and order away. From the wording on the offer, you can use one-click and have multiple orders, up to the $30 total discount allowed. This credit expires November 4. Limit one per customer and one per device.

The stands are already 25%-33% off list price, so your discount will be off the shown price (a net discount up to about 50%). The one from Belkin looks like it would be easy to pack and use when not at home and I am tempted to get a new stylus that matches my cover (with everyone's here being a boring black, it's easy to lose track of them).

$30 Off Amazon Denim (KSO)

This offer is only for those with a Kindle with Special Offers (including any Kindle Touch or Kindle Keyboard that opts in to Special Offers, but not the Kindle Fire with Special Offers):

Get $30 Off a Purchase of $100 or More in the Amazon Denim Shop

Click on the offer, then click on the link on the offer page sign up and you'll get an email(right away) with the promotion code. This offer is good for one book and only one per account (if you have multiple KSO devices, they need to be registered to different accounts before you sign up to get the promotion code emails; every Kindle on an account gets flagged when you sign up for the special offer and they will all get the same code for that promotion from then on). Sign-up for this offer expires October 21, 2012, and the promo code must be used by October 28.

The email will contain a link to the promotion page. You'll need to add the items you select to your cart, then use the full check out process and enter the Promo code on the summary page (it's not automatic, like the Kindle Fire promo).

Other than the dates (and getting a code via email, rather than an automatic credit via AmazonLocal), this is the exact same offer that those with a Kindle Fire with Special Offers received a couple of days ago. There doesn't seem to be any reason you can't take advantage of both offers, if you have a lot of denim to purchase, but they can't be used on the same order, of course.

$30 Off Amazon Denim (KSO)

This offer is only for those with a Kindle Fire with Special Offers (KFSO).

From the home page of your KFSO, swipe the top menu to the left until you see Offers, then press/click in order to see the current offers. At the bottom, you should see the offer for $30 Off a Purchase of $100 or More in the Amazon Denim Shop. Click on the offer, then on the orange button to add the credit directly to your account. It's nearly instant and the next screen offers to take you to Amazon so you can spend that credit away! If you miss that screen, though, don't worry - a document about the offer will appear on your home page. You must sign up by October 16.

Choose one or more items in the Amazon Denim Shop, place them into your cart and checkout (using the full checkout process, not one-click). You only get a single credit and the purchase must be over $100, but you can add a few pairs of jeans together to get to that total.

This credit expires October 23. Limit one per customer and one per device.

Kindle Lightning Deals

Starting at 5PM Eastern/2PM Pacific, Amazon will be having a different Kindle accessory (and one for the iPad) in the Lightning Deals every hour. There are clues as to which ones we'll see, but not the prices. If they are popular, or there aren't many available at the sale price, count on these selling out just after the hour changes each hour.
  • 5PM/2PM - Reduce glare, fingerprints, and smudges on your Kindle Fire (not compatible with HD models)
  • 6PM/3PM - Give your Kindle, Paperwhite, or Touch some international flare with this popular case from Verso
  • 7PM/4PM - Save on a great Belkin standing case for your Kindle Fire HD 7"
  • 8PM/5PM - Save on a genuine leather case for your Kindle Fire (not for HD)
  • 9PM/6PM - Great deal on highly reviewed iPad stand - great for gifting!

$5 Amazon MP3 Credit (KSO)

This offer is only for those with a Kindle with Special Offers (including any Kindle Touch or Kindle Keyboard that opts in to Special Offers, but not Kindle Fire with Special Offers):

Get $5 to Spend on Digital Music at Amazon

Click on the offer, then click on the link on the offer page sign up and you'll get an email with the promotion code. Sign-up for this offer expires October 7, 2012.

You'll get an email (right away), a link to the Amazon MP3 store page, a promotion code and a link to the redemption page. This one works like a gift card and you need to apply the credit to your account first, before going shopping. Once you have entered the promotional code(s), you have until October 14, 2012 to complete your purchases.

I'd recommend that you apply the credit right away, since it works on any MP3 purchase - then you can shop on the web or from your phone or Kindle Fire and it will be used automatically. The exception would be if you have the MP3 Album for $3 credit on your account. These credits don't combine well (when I tried to buy my album, it ate up all my existing credit, rather than only $3, and I had to get customer service to help straighten it out). So, use that credit first, then apply this credit to your account.

Edit to add: I found the best way to ensure that your credits are being used the way you want: send your MP3 choice to yourself as a gift. On the first page you'll see the Amazon price (ignoring any promos or credits) and you enter your email address. On the next page (the confirmation page), you'll see the exact price you pay and any promos that are being used for the purchase. By doing this, you can make sure that aren't using $8 of credit for what should be a $3 album (which is what happened to me the first time). In order to use my $3 album credit, it looks like you need to make sure you don't have any coinstar credits first.

$10 Amazon Gift Card from Discover (KSO)

This offer is for Kindle with Special Offers owners only.

Get a $10 Amazon Gift Card from Discover

To take advantage of this offer:
  1. First, turn on your Kindle with Special Offers, click Menu, then View Special Offers.
  2. Find the offer: Get $2 off any one of 50 MP3 jazz albums. Click on it, then on the link to Email Me This Offer.
  3. You will get an email from Amazon with directions (essentially the next two steps, below).
  4. Set your default Kindle 1-Click Payment Method to your Discover card in the Manage Your Kindle section on Amazon.com, here.
  5. Purchase one or more digital products such as Kindle content, Audible Audiobooks, MP3s, Amazon Instant Videos, Digital Games & Software, and Apps from the Amazon Appstore for Android. Gift Cards and physical goods are excluded.
  6. A $10 Amazon.com Gift Card will be applied to your Amazon account within 10 business days, but in no event later than November 30, 2012.
Limit one per customer and only available from September 11, 2012 12:01 a.m. (PT) through November 11, 2012 11:59 p.m. (PT).

If you have multiple accounts, I suspect you can only get this on one account per Discover Card account (you would have to have two Discover accounts and two Amazon accounts to get two gift cards). Since the Terms and Conditions link in the email Amazon sent out doesn't go anywhere pertinent, though, that is just a guess on my part.

Starbucks $10 for $5 Deal

Over at LivingSocial, you can buy a $10 Starbucks gift card for $5. Once paid for, you can go into "My Vouchers" and simply print off the gift "card". If you already have a Starbucks account, you can then register the card to your account, so that purchases on it will count towards your free drink rewards or transfer the funds from it onto your main gift card. The latter is what I did, which saved even having to print out the physical paper and keep track of it.

Kindle DX $269!

Today only, the Kindle DX, Free 3G, 9.7" E Ink Display is $110 off, for a total of $269! In addition, it looks like most of today's Gold Box deals are Kindle related (mostly Kindle Fire accessories), so you'll want to keep an eye out on those today, tool.

This model includes 3G cellular service at no charge, including web browsing (which has been limited to WiFi mode with the Kindle Touch and that trend will no doubt continue). The promotional price will continue until midnight in Seattle or while supplies last. The dropdown will let you try to order up to 999 of these at the special price, but I didn't actually place them in the cart to see if it would really work.
Description

$2 Instant Amazon MP3 Credit

Another free MP3 voucher from Amazon today, this time for $2 in free MP3's. Enter the code HEARTMP3 on the MP3 Redemption page. Just like a gift card, once you have entered the promotional code(s), you can shop on the web OR from your Kindle Fire or other device and it will be used automatically.

This credit can't be combined with the $3 AmazonLocal credit on the same purchase and I'm not sure which one will come off first, so if you still have that $3 credit, you might want to use it now, then apply this one and use it fairly quickly, as I'm not entirely sure of the expiration date. There are various guesses out there on the internet, but the July 11 date I've seen seems to be based on some wording on the AmazonLocal credit page (so, you don't have long on that credit, either). This credit (like Amazon MP3's) is limited to those with a US billing address.

The weekly $2.99 is still soundtracks today (I'm hoping it changes tomorrow), so you can still pick up Rock of Ages: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack at a super discount (or free). If your idea of classic rock is a bit older, mostly in the 50's and 60's, though, you'll want to grab 111 Rock 'n' Roll Superhits (The Ultimate Compilation), released by GM&F and also $2.99. For classical fans, Classical Music for the Reader 5 has been released (and is only 99 cents) and there are several 100 Supreme Classical Masterpieces: Rise of the Masters compilations at $1.99 that are worth picking up.

$3 Instant Amazon MP3 Credit

This offer is displayed on my Kindle with Special Offers (which is just an Kindle with Ads, lately), but is not limited to those with a KSO or any Kindle device. Instead, you can either order this one direct from your KSO or just go online to AmazonLocal and grab it there:

Free Voucher for $3 to Spend at Amazon MP3

You will need one-click turned on for your Amazon account AND you must have a credit card registered for one-click (even though you won't be charged). You can turn this off and remove the card (do this by choosing to supply a new payment type, then just clicking on your address without entering any other info), once you've signed up. Sign-up for this offer expires at midnight (PT) or when supplies are exhausted (check other cities if yours is out).

You'll receive the promo code on your KSO home page and can retrieve it from the Vouchers link at AmazonLocal (you should also get an email telling you when it is ready) and will need to load the credit onto your account (which you can redeem HERE), just like a gift card, before going shopping. Once you have entered the promotional code(s), you have until midnight, July 11, 2012 to complete your purchases. I'd recommend that you apply the credit right away, since it works on any MP3 purchase - then you can shop on the web OR from your Kindle Fire and it will be used automatically.

If you were holding off on any of yesterday's bargain albums, now's the time to grab one (the credit will buy an entire Soundtrack!).

Kindle DX w/ Case $299

The Kindle DX, with free 3G and it's larger, 9.7" eInk screen keeps hanging in there and today's Deal is just as good as the $259 sale late last November. By putting Amazon's Kindle DX Leather Cover ($40) into your cart at the same time and using the checkout process, you'll automatically get $120 off the order. That's $299 total for the combo and a net price for the DX of $259, which is about the same as the lowest used price (from a 3rd party seller).

This model includes 3G cellular service at no charge, including web browsing (which has been limited to WiFi mode with the Kindle Touch and that trend will no doubt continue). The promotional price will continue thru Father's Day, June 17, 2012, or while supplies last (limit 50 per order!).

Want an even better deal? Grab any one of these 16 reading lights at 25% off, if on the same order (the DX cover qualifies you for the discount).
