$30 Off Kindle Fire (AL)

Update: Fixed links to voucher.

This is another AmazonLocal deal. Just click on Apply from the Free Voucher Worth $30 Off a Kindle Fire page, then complete the purchase on the page after that. You must have a credit card on file, make a "purchase" at zero cost, then the promo code is automatically applied to your account (no waiting for an email and dealing with a promo code). Sign-up for this offer expires July 13, 2013 or when the number of vouchers set aside by Amazon have been exhausted.

Note that this deal is for the Kindle Fire (2nd Generation), not the Kindle Fire HD, which is currently marked at $30 off (no voucher needed). You can get the tablet with or without Special offers using the $30 voucher, with a limit of one tablet per account (although nothing says that families with more than one account can't buy one per account and then register them all together, to take advantage of a Prime membership).

Save $30 on Kindle Fire HD!

As a Fourth of July promotion, Amazon has marked down the price of the Kindle Fire HD 7" (now $169), no promotional code required. If you prefer not to have Special Offers, add $15, and to double the internal storage (for movies and games, for example), add $30.

This is marked as a limited time promotion, but since it is being done via a price break on the product page, I don't see anything on how long it lasts. I suspect the prices are only good thru July 4th.

Bargain Book Duo and some Notes

Save up to 70% this weekend at Kobo (no coupon code). The Kobo Glo eInk ereader is marked down to $99 this weekend (USA only, use coupon code GL625), but the big news is a 1/2 price sale on the Kobo Mini at $39.99.

It's the last day for those with Amazon Prime to borrow a book that is Prime Lending Eligible.

Sony has a $1.99 sale going on; if you don't want EPUB, most are being price matched at Amazon (if you do want EPUB, you only get the $1.99 price if you add it to the cart from the sale page). I can't tell if the sale was supposed to end on Saturday or not, since it's still up and live early Sunday morning.

B&N has their top-selling ebooks marked at 50% off this weekend (in addition to their NOOK Book Two-for-One Weekends Offer in store sale). Even at that price, some are cheaper in the Kindle store all the time (or within a dollar or two), but there are quite a few that were dropped below the $5 mark. So, check out the sale and then double check with Amazon, if you prefer to read on your Kindle.

Kiss of Surrender ($0.89 Kindle), the second Deadly Angels novel by Sandra Hill [HarperCollins], looks to be a humorous urban fantasy. The just released Kiss of Temptation is the third in the series and also on sale, at $2.99. For those who prefer to start the series at the beginning, Kiss of Pride is under $5.

Kiss of Surrender
What romance reader can resist a hero who is both Viking…and vampire? In the second installment of New York Times bestselling author Sandra Hill's exciting Deadly Angels series, Nicole Tasso, Navy SEAL is powerless to resist the "vangel" in her midst… And the mystery surrounding her thousand-year-old suitor only makes him more desirable…and more dangerous! Filled with Sandra Hill's trademark combination of smoldering sensuality and laugh-out-loud humor, Kiss of Surrender: A Deadly Angels Book will leave paranormal and urban fantasy romance fans hungry for more from this award-winning author.
Kiss of Temptation
Kiss of Tempation is the third romance in New York Times bestselling author’s Sandra Hill’s beloved Deadly Angels series.

For centuries, Ivak Sigurdsson has served the archangel Michael as a vangel – a viking vampire angel. Ready to demonstrate that he is more than just a libidinous heartbreaker, he agrees to help lawyer Gabrielle Sonnier. But while her problems are in need of serious attention, so is their attraction for one another.

Sexy and sassy, Kiss of Temptation features plenty of witty innuendo, passion, and a hint of mystery. Fans of paranormal romance will enjoy this racy page-turner featuring a strong, smart heroine and a bad boy turned hero.

Fatal Error ($0.99 Kindle), by Colleen Thompson [Montlake Romance], is joined by a number her novels at $2.99, including her just released novel (from this week!), Head On.

Fatal Error
West Texas gossip paints every story a more interesting shade, especially when a married man goes missing with a small-town banker’s wife and a stolen fortune. Susan Maddox is tired of feeling like an abandoned woman, and even angrier when neighbors insist she’s the one getting away with murder. Maybe her handsome-as-sin, bad-boy brother-in-law isn’t the smartest choice of an ally, especially since she’s never been able to forget a star-studded night in his convertible back in high school. But who else can she trust to recover damning information from her husband’s crashed hard drive? Who else can pick up the pieces when intruders set fire to her home, a truck runs her off the road, and a trail of dead men stops her cold? Who else will help her uncover a fatal error?
Head On
Hell On Wheels...

The full moon brings out the crazies; anyone in emergency services knows that. But for hospice nurse Beth Ann Decker, the gruesome murder that rocks Hatcher County is shockingly unexpected. As is the return of the Texas community's most hated prodigal son -- Mark Jessup. Sixteen years before, the town's bad boy was behind the wheel of a pickup that left three cheerleaders dead and Beth Ann so badly injured that people whispered she'd have been better off in the grave with them. Jessup is all man now -- tough, uncompromising, rich -- and a possible suspect in this new killing. Beth Ann knows he's the last person she should be spending time with, especially when a nighttime intruder makes it clear that she herself is a target. But in Mark's heated gaze, Beth Ann sees something a lot more exciting than pity. No matter how dangerous the road ahead, she's dead set on meeting life, and love...Head On.

40% Off Select Mobile Device Accessories (AL)

This is another AmazonLocal deal, so you must be in the US, but don't have to find a special offer on your Kindle. Instead, just click on Apply from the Free Voucher Worth 40% Off Select Mobile Device Accessories page, then complete the purchase on the page after that. You must have a credit card on file, make a "purchase" at zero cost, then the promo code is automatically applied to your account (no waiting for an email and dealing with a promo code). Sign-up for this offer expires July 4, 2013 or when the number of vouchers set aside by Amazon have been exhausted.

Grab a voucher now, before they sell out and you'll have nearly two weeks to look thru the qualifying items and decide which ones you want (although popular ones may sell out, as always with these offers). Also, be sure to click on the headings for your particular Kindle model (or the one you're buying for Dad), once you get to the Accessories page. Many items are full price before the discount, but a few, such as the Tribeca Genuine Wood Aviator Headphones, are already on sale - the 40% off discount will apply to the sales price, dropping their costs even farther. There are, of course, quite a few items that work with a Kindle or Kindle Fire, while others are more general in nature and should work with any smartphone or tablet, including the speakers and headsets.
Deal Description
One of the many pleasures of using a tablet or phone is the ability to take it with you wherever you want to go. Today's deal from Amazon.com offers a wonderful discount on many accessories that enhance this experience. • Pleasing variety of useful products -- you're sure to find one you like
  • Colorful styluses and clip-on reading lights
  • Perfect for traveling anywhere and everywhere
  • Voucher will expire if not used toward a qualifying purchase in the Kindle Accessories Store by July 12, 2013

  • This promotion may not be combined with other offers, including promotional certificates

Save $20 on Kindle Fire HD!

Update: Offer extended until June 15 (or while supplies last).

As a Father's Day promotion, you can save $20 on a Kindle Fire HD 7" (now from $179 with promo), the Kindle Fire HD 8.9" or Kindle Fire HD 8.9" 4G, by entering promotional code DADSFIRE at checkout. The deals page shows both the base models and the memory upgraded models, as well as those with and without Special Offers (if you don't want Dad to have to pay to dump the advertising himself). If you play a lot of games, like to download the full content on those Audubon apps or want to stick a few movies on there for a quick trip, you should probably consider upgrading to the 32GB model, for only $30 extra (on the 4G model, that's where you start and the upgrade to 64G is $100).

There are some restrictions, which work out to basically one per customer (account), only those sold by Amazon (no third party sellers or used), and only until the number they've set aside for the promotion sell out (the final end date is June 8th, but there is also a "while supplies last" clause). Be sure not to use one-click, though - you need to go thru the full checkout process, so that you can apply the promo code above (and double check your total) before ordering, in order to get the sale price. If you are buying as a gift, be sure to click the box on the summary page for that, as well, so that the device isn't auto-registered to your account.

Free Voucher for $10 from Audible.com (AL)

This deal is for NEW Audible customers only: Get a Free Voucher for $10 to Spend on Audiobooks from Audible.com

Click on Apply, then complete the purchase on the page after that. Yes, it now says "Apply" instead of "purchase" on these free offers, but nearly the same process: you must be in the US and have a credit card on file, make a "purchase" at zero cost, then the promo code is automatically applied to your account (no waiting for an email and dealing with a promo code). Sign-up for this offer expires June 2, 2013 or when the number of vouchers set aside by Amazon have been exhausted.

Grab a voucher today (before they 'sell out' or the offer expires) and you'll have a week to apply the voucher to your account and then 30 days to browse thru Audible and decide where to spend your $10. If you use it on some of the reasonably priced companion editions, you could get up to 5 audiobooks free from this deal.

Edited to add: I played with this a bit, to see what a "new" customer might be. It seems that not only those with a subscription, but anyone who has ever even logged into Audible with their Amazon account ID (or perhaps even if you just have an Amazon account) are considered "not new" customers. I know that an Amazon account that has no audiobooks and I don't think has ever logged into Audible was rejected as "not new", so suspect you'll need to create a new account at Audible (one with an email address not linked to an Amazon account) in order to use this voucher.
Deal Description
Get carried away by a great story with an audiobook from Audible.com. From classics to humor, thrillers to romance, and everything in between, it’s all here. Listen on your Kindle, iPhone, Android phone, Windows phone or tablet -- and turn your commute, your workout, even doing the laundry, into the most anticipated moments of your day. And now thanks to Whispersync for Voice, Kindle readers can switch seamlessly between a Kindle eBook and the Audible audiobook, picking up in one where you left off in the other.
  • Valid for new Audible.com customers only
  • Voucher will expire if not redeemed on Audible.com by 11:59 P.M. EDT June 9, 2013
  • $10 balance will expire if not used toward the purchase of an item or items on Audible.com after 30 days from date of redemption
  • Limit 1 voucher per customer
  • Available only to U.S. customers

40% Off Select Kindle Accessories (AL)

This is repeat of the earlier AmazonLocal deal, so if you signed up earlier, you are still signed up for this deal (you just get longer to make a selection).

Click on Apply from the Free Voucher for 40% Off Select Kindle Accessories page, then complete the purchase on the page after that. Yes, it now says "Apply" instead of "purchase" on these free offers, but nearly the same process: you must be in the US and have a credit card on file, make a "purchase" at zero cost, then the promo code is automatically applied to your account (no waiting for an email and dealing with a promo code). Sign-up for this offer expires June 4, 2013 or when the number of vouchers set aside by Amazon have been exhausted.

Grab a voucher now, before they sell out and you'll have three days to look thru the qualifying items and decide which ones you want (although popular ones may sell out, as happened earlier with this deal, but it appears to have been restocked with some new choices). Also, be sure to click on the headings for your particular Kindle model (or the one you're buying for Dad), once you get to the Accessories page - only a few are displayed when you first arrive and there are actually quite a few for each Kindle model. Besides the usual assortment of cases, there are headphones made specifically for the Kindle Fire (presumably with a thin connector, so it will work with the Fire in an Amazon case).
Deal Description
Dad's life changed when he got that Kindle. This Father's Day, support his newfound passion by getting a free voucher good for 40% off up to $250 worth of accessories from the Kindle Accessories Store. Give him a Kindle cover that will identify his device as his alone, or a protective molded case to keep it secure while it's in his briefcase or backpack.
  • Free voucher for 40% off up to $250 worth of select Kindle accessories
  • Choose from a huge variety of covers, cases, easel stands, and sleeves
  • Make sure Dad's Kindle is both stylishly attired and secure
  • Voucher will expire if not used toward a qualifying purchase in the Kindle Accessories Store by June 11, 2013
  • Voucher is valid for a 40% discount on your order total (up to the first $250 spent) for qualifying items in the Kindle Accessories Store; your order total can be over $250, but the maximum discount is $100.

Nook Simple Touch under $20

Update: If you buy $30 on a single purchase (two readers, perhaps?), you also get a $10 gift certificate to use on a future purchase at RadioShack.

This is an in-store deal only and only at selected Radio Shacks. No doubt they are closing out on these, but if you have been wanting an eInk reader for your Nook Books, perhaps one that you won't be as upset if the kids break, this is a heck of a deal. You can search from the online product page for the Nook Simple Touch and see if a store near you has these in stock. One trick, I found, was to increase the search distance to 50 miles, as the default 5 miles often won't even find a store in the same zip code. In our city, it appears that only one store location has these in stock and I suspect more and more will sell out as the sale progresses this week.

Pair this with a cover from Barnes & Noble, all but one of which are selling for $15 or less online and in-store right now (that high dollar one is also under $20), and you can have a perfect Mother's Day Gift for less than the cost of dinner out for two.

B&N Nook Sale Report

I stopped in the local B&N this afternoon, to check on the $90 Off Tablet Sale and the NOOK Book Two-for-One Weekends Offer. There were posters everywhere on the "special price" on the Nook HD and HD+. Gone, though, were the old "$50 Free Content" offer posters, which means that the price on the smaller tablet was essentially the same (assuming you would buy some content at B&N). For B&N Members, who received the coupons in the mail for $50/$90 off a tablet - all B&N did was extend the exact same sale to everyone, rendering the "exclusive coupons" sent to you essentially worthless (no special price for members, no kickback as a gift card, as they've done in the past, no special bonus content on an SD card). You can get the same price at BestBuy this week, so if you are in the market for a new Nook Tablet, buy at whichever one gives you the best perks (BestBuy Rewards members probably come out ahead on this one).

As for their NOOK Book Two-for-One Weekends Offer, which specifically says that you get to choose which book to pay for -- in the store instructions (only; not on any online offer details and they had exactly zero posters up about this deal, so only those who knew about the sale before coming to the store would have a chance to take advantage of it), the store was instructed to give you the cheapest book free, regardless of which book you told them you wanted to pay for. I wonder how many handed over their credit cards and never looked to see that they paid for the more expensive book?

In any case, we skipped both sales and the Weekend Offers will have to be quite enticing (and have two books at close to the same price, I suspect) to lure me into the store on a weekend, just to take advantage of the sale. Especially since the cafe is so crowded on the weekends and you have to wait to get a table (unlike during the week, which makes you wonder about the timing of the sale, since they are much more deserted during the week).

Update: I tried the coupon code for the $90 off the HD+ tablet online and it actually worked, taking an additional $90 off (would have been $50 off the HD). I have no idea how long this will continue to work or if B&N will actually ship the ones ordered with this steep discount, but it's worth a shot for those who received coupons in the mail.

Save $20 on 7" Kindle Fire HD!

As a Mother's Day promotion, you can save $20 on a Kindle Fire HD 7" (now from $179 with promo), by entering promotional code FIRE4MOM at checkout. The deals page shows both the base models and the memory upgraded models, as well as those with and without Special Offers (if you don't want Mom to have to pay to dump the advertising herself). If you play a lot of games, like to download the full content on those Audubon apps or want to stick a few movies on there for a quick trip, you should probably consider upgrading to the 32GB model, for only $30 extra.

There are some restrictions, which work out to basically one per customer (account), only those sold by Amazon (no third party sellers or used), and only until the number they've set aside for the promotion sell out (the final end date is May 12th, but there is also a "while supplies last" clause). Be sure not to use one-click, though - you need to go thru the full checkout process, so that you can apply the promo code above (and double check your total) before ordering, in order to get the sale price. If you are buying as a gift, be sure to click the box on the summary page for that, as well, so that the device isn't auto-registered to your account.

eReader and Accessories Deals for Mother's Day

There are a number of ereader deals going on right now, although the best I saw in the US Kindle store was up-to-50% off Kindle Fire cases and up-to-50% Kindle and Paperwhite covers, plus an offer to Get $2 in MP3s with select Kindle Accessories.

For those who can purchase from the German Amazon store, though, you do get a good deal:
Surprise Mom and Dad with the perfect gift. When you purchase a Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite, Kindle Fire, Kindle Fire HD or Kindle Fire HD 8.9, you can add-on a Kindle to the order for only 49 euros (30 euros off).
More details can be found on this page and the deal is only valid thru 18:00 May 9 (in Germany, not the usual Seattle time). Be sure to add both to the cart and go thru the full checkout process (no one-clicking) and verify that you see the discount before completing the order.

For those who read EPUBs on occasion, there are a few more deals to be had:
  • Kobo Glo eReader with free SleepCover (retail: $39.99) and free shipping (purchase by May 8 & get guaranteed delivery by Mother's Day) from Powell's Bookstore and nearly the same deal for this in Canada at FutureShop.ca
  • In the UK, get a Kobo Mini in black or white for £39.99 from Box.UK (via their ebay store)
  • Also in the UK, B&N has lowered the price of the Nook to £29 and the GlowLight to £69 (may also be good in-store)
  • Here in the states, those with a B&N membership can get $50 off the Nook HD and $90 off the Nook HD+ using the coupons sent to you in the mail recently (if you toss them away, unopened, better take a look for them!). This drops the HD to $149 and the HD+ to $179, which is a pretty decent deal and it's available both in-store and online. For a lucky few, though, you'll find that some B&N stores are selling the HD+ for $149, without the coupon, and are willing to ship it out to you, as well. The best bet, though, is to get hold of one of those coupons, which is valid thru May 12.
  • In-store only at B&N, I've been seeing massive discounts on covers for the older nook eInk and tablets, with an entire table covered with covers, all for $15 or less. I just did a quick check online and it appears that the sale is valid there too, with covers for the nook Tablet available there (including the tempting Angry Birds in Green cover), but there were nook Color and original Nook covers also at my store on the sale.

$20 Off Kindle Paperwhite - Today Only

Note: This deal is over and the page at Amazon has been removed.

I initially wasn't going to write about this deal, since it didn't work for me when I tried it a couple of days ago and seemed to be targeted only to people who received an email. Some people who didn't get an email, though, were able to use the code (this appeared to be people who don't already have a device connected to their accounts) and others have reported that using the CHAT feature to contact Kindle support was working to be able to get the discount applied manually.

Get $20 Off the Kindle Paperwhite (with special offers) - thru April 30 (midnight, PST).

Try first, of course, to enter the promo code KINDLEPW after placing a single Kindle Paperwhite, with Special Offers (the code does not work on the more expensive model, although you can simply pay to get rid of them later). Go thru the full checkout process and apply the promo code KINDLEPW. If it works (check the summary box on the right side of the page), then finish checking out.

If it doesn't take $20 off, then leave that page up and open a new tab. Go back to the Kindle Paperwhite page, click on Kindle Support, then the Contact Us button on the right side of the page (about half way down). Ignore the part at the top about picking a Kindle device and skip down to section 2. Choose "Placing an Order" and then "Payments and Promotions", then click on Chat. You should quickly be connected to a Kindle support rep, who can assist in trying to get the promo code to work. They may require you to place the order and then apply the discount after the order is created -- I have done this a time or two in the past, without problems, but I always suggest both keeping a copy of the chat transcript and checking the order itself after a few minutes, to see if the promo credit was applied (it will be in the bottom section of the invoice).

So, for those wanting a Paperwhite for themselves (or as a last-minute gift for Mother's Day), give it a try.

Terms & Conditions
  1. Promotion is valid for a limited time only. Amazon reserves the right to cancel it at any time.
  2. Promotion applies only to new Kindle Paperwhite devices sold and shipped by Amazon Digital Services. It does not apply to the same products sold by other sellers or to Certified Refurbished Kindle products.
  3. If you do not purchase Kindle Paperwhite prior to April 30, 2013 11:59 PM (PST), the promotion will not apply.
  4. Customer will be responsible for payment to Amazon.com of final order total after discount, plus applicable taxes, gift-wrap charges and shipping charges.
  5. Each promotion code can be used only once
  6. If you return any item purchased using the discount, your refund will equal to the amount you paid for the product, subject to applicable refund policies.
  7. The promotion code is not transferrable and may not be resold.
  8. Limit one promotion code per customer.
  9. Does not apply to orders placed with 1-Click.

30% Off Qualifying Kindle Accessories (AL)

This is another AmazonLocal deal, so you must be in the US, but don't have to find a special offer on your Kindle. Instead, just click on Apply from the Free Voucher Worth 30% Off Select Kindle Accessories page, then complete the purchase on the page after that. Yes, it now says "Apply" instead of "purchase" on these free offers, but nearly the same process: you must be in the US and have a credit card on file, make a "purchase" at zero cost, then the promo code is automatically applied to your account (no waiting for an email and dealing with a promo code). Sign-up for this offer expires May 3, 2013 or when the number of vouchers set aside by Amazon have been exhausted.

Grab a voucher now, before they sell out and you'll have over a week to look thru the qualifying items and decide which ones you want (although popular ones may sell out, as always with these offers). Also, be sure to click on the headings for your particular Kindle model, once you get to the Accessories page - only a few are displayed when you first arrive and there are actually quite a few for each Kindle model (currently; these offers often sell out). The cases I looked at were all full price before the voucher and are suggested as Mother's Day gifts (but, I'd think long and hard on a snakeskin case, at least for most Mothers that I know, although I can think of a few that might want one of the camouflage cases).
Deal Description
Mom loves reading on her Kindle, so help her love it even more with a stylish accessory. Today's deal from the Kindle Accessories Store offers a wonderful discount on colorful sleeves, cases, and covers to protect and personalize her device. She'll appreciate the safety, and every time she picks it up to read, she'll remember you were thinking of her.
  • Free voucher worth 30% off select Kindle accessories

Top 1,000 Bestsellers for Half Off - This Weekend Only

B&N is having a 50% off sale this weekend on the 1,000 best-selling Nook Books (excluding Agency published books, of course). The sale price is from the list price, so not everything is marked down (some non-fiction titles, such as cookbooks, may be higher than usual -- or, higher than Amazon's regular price, in any case), but in many other cases, there are bargains to be had and some very new releases are priced at paperback prices, as the only other edition currently out is hardcover (and their list price is fairly high), which means you can grab them now to read, rather than waiting months for the price to drop under $10.

Don't have a Nook or just prefer to read on your Kindle? If you see a book you like on the sale, just check in the Kindle store, as Amazon has been price matching many of these deals (and will probably drop more of them, as the weekend progresses).

The sale has categories listed in the menu bar on the left of the page, so you can narrow the list down to a manageable size and you can also sort it by publication date (to find the newest releases), price (only the best bargains), author, etc. I've already found a couple that I'll be picking up this weekend and have no doubt that there is at least one or two books there that will tempt you, as well.

30% Off Qualifying Kindle Accessories (AL)

This is another AmazonLocal deal, so you must be in the US, but don't have to find a special offer on your Kindle: 30% Off Qualifying Kindle Accessories. If you've been holding off on a case, it looks like Amazon's fitted cases are already about 20% off and with the voucher code, they will be a pretty good deal.

Save $20 on 7" Kindle Fire HD!

As part of a Super Bowl advertising campaign (did you see the Kindle Fire commercial at the end of the game?), you can save $30 on a Kindle Fire HD 8.9" (now $269 with promo) or $50 on the Kindle Fire HD 8.9" 4G LTE Wireless (now $449 with promo), by entering promotional code FIRELOVE at checkout.

There are some restrictions, which work out to basically one per customer (account), only those sold by Amazon (no third party sellers or used), and only until the number they've set aside for the promotion sell out (there's no end date posted on this promo, but I don't expect it to last very long). This time around, the deals page shows both the base models and the memory upgraded models for each of the Kindle Fires that are on sale, with links to the four models eligible all shown, so that it's easier to make your choice.

The Fine Print:
Limit one discount per customer, while supplies last. U.S. customers only. Discount valid on all versions of Kindle Fire HD 8.9" sold and shipped by Amazon. It does not apply to the same products sold by other sellers. Amazon reserves the right to cancel the promotion at any time. Promo codes may not be combined with other offers. If you return items purchased using a promo code, we will subtract the value of the discount from your return credit. Offer not valid with 1-Click ordering. Void where prohibited.

$2 MP3 Credit from Amazon Mom

If you've ever signed up for Amazon Mom, check your email to see if Amazon has sent you a $2 MP3 Code from Amazon Mom. If they have, just click thru the email and apply the credit (cut and paste from the email) and then you can go shopping. If you don't have any other ideas on what to spend it on, there are a few 99 cent albums that look interesting: 100 Must-Have Lullaby Baby Classics (for those with very small ones in the house), Classical Music for the Reader 8: Great Masterpieces for the Dedicated Reader and Big Beethoven Box (no small children required). If you aren't a classical fan, there are always the 2,000 $5 MP3 albums this month, which would be reduced to $3 with the credit.
