Great Deal on 8GB USB Flash Drive

I just found a great deal on an 8GB USB Flash Drive, the Kingston 8GB Hi-speed Datatraveler, which is currently selling for $7.99 and is eligible for free Prime shipping from Amazon. This is about the same price as (and in many cases lower than) the price of the 4GB drives.

This drive should work on any PC running Windows 7, Vista, XP, as well as any Mac. I'm planning on using one to load music to play on my Roku box (the Roku supports larger hard drives via USB, also, but there isn't much in the way of selectability in their rather primitive USB Channel app - so, I'll create a playlist and copy it to the USB drive to plug into the ROKU and just play the entire drive). A second one will be used to backup my books (yes, I have books backed up on the cloud, as well, but like having a physical backup, in case something happens to the company running the cloud or I want to get at a backup when the internet is down) and I may use a third one for pictures. Sure, I could make a DVD, but these are easier to carry around, work with the ROKU and netbooks without a drive and are a lot easier to add content, later on.

If you need a bit more security on your drive (which I'd recommend if you use it to backup financial documents or scanned copies of your credit cards, driver's license, etc.), then you may want to step up to the Kingston 8GB Hi-speed DataTraveler Locker+ with Encryption ($19.99). On the other hand, if you are the type that keeps losing the caps to your flash drives and need to be able to toss them into a pocket or purse or keep them on a keyring, then there is a cute little drive, the Kingston 8GB DataTraveler 108 ($11.99), that looks like it would be ideal.

Product Description
The new generation of a kingston best-seller is here! with capacities up to 32gb, the reliable datatraveler generation 3 (g3) is ideal for your important documents, music, video clips and favorite photos that can be stored and retrieved in a flash. available in fun colors by capacity, it’s a perfect for the office, home, school and wherever you travel. a well-built cap protects the usb plug and your data. datatraveler g3 is backed by legendary kingston reliability plus a 5 year-year warranty and free tech support.
