30 Books for a Buck (K/E)

Sony is running a sale with 30 books marked down to $1 each and Amazon has matched the prices on many of them, which means you should be able to grab at least a few of these any of these regardless of which ereader you have. If you pick a few of them up from Sony, don't forget that you'll also get a free book for purchasing 6 books in October (from their limited list). The main theme on this sale is Romance, but there are a few variations on it here and there. I've noted the Amazon prices where they haven't matched the Sony sale.

Succubus Blues (Kindle, Sony), is the first novel in Richelle Mead's Georgina Kincaid urban fantasy series, which I definitely recommend (hey, she gets free books and coffee! I'm jealous). The second in the series, Succubus On Top ($4.99), is also on sale and has a companion audiobook available (also $4.99).
Book Description
When it comes to jobs in hell, being a succubus seems pretty glamorous. A girl can be anything she wants, the wardrobe is killer, and mortal men will do anything just for a touch. Granted, they often pay with their souls, but why get technical?

But Seattle succubus Georgina Kincaid's life is far less exotic. At least there's her day job at a local bookstore--free books; all the white chocolate mochas she can drink; and easy access to bestselling, sexy writer, Seth Mortensen, aka He Whom She Would Give Anything to Touch but Can't.

But dreaming about Seth will have to wait. Something wicked is at work in Seattle's demon underground. And for once, all of her hot charms and drop-dead one-liners won't help because Georgina's about to discover there are some creatures out there that both heaven and hell want to deny. . .

Very Much Alive (Kindle, Sony), the first title in the True Destiny series by Dana Marie Bell

Or Else

The Mane Event ($4.59 Kindle, Sony), the first in the Pride series by Shelly Laurenston
Book Description
Mace Llewellyn. Brendon Shaw. Two tall, gorgeous, sexy alpha heroes who are 100% male--with a little something extra. Lion-shifters, to be exact, who can unleash every woman's animal side and still look good--make that spectacular--in a suit. . .and even better out of it. . .

NYPD cop Desiree "Dez" MacDermot knows she's changed a lot since she palled around with her childhood buddy, Mace. But it's fair to say that Mace has changed even more. It isn't just those too-sexy gold eyes, or the six-four, built-like-a-Navy Seal body. It's something in the way he sniffs her neck and purrs, making her entire body tingle. . . Meanwhile, for Tennessean Ronnie Lee Reed, New York City is the place where any girl--even one who runs with a Pack--can redefine herself. First order of business: find a mate, settle down, and stop using men for sex. Even big, gorgeous, lion shifter men like Brendon Shaw. But she needn't worry, because now that Brendon's set his sights on her, the predator in him is ready to pounce and never let go. . .

Today's Kindle Kids Daily Deal is Stupid Fast ($1.99), by Geoff Herbach.
Book Description
I AM NOT STUPID FUNNY.
I AM STUPID FAST.

My name is Felton Reinstein, which is not a fast name. But last November, my voice finally dropped and I grew all this hair and then I got stupid fast. Fast like a donkey. Zing!

Now they want me, the guy they used to call Squirrel Nut, to try out for the football team. With the jocks. But will that fix my mom? Make my brother stop dressing like a pirate? Most important, will it get me girls-especially Aleah?

So I train. And I run. And I sneak off to Aleah's house in the night. But deep down I know I can't run forever. And I wonder what will happen when I finally have to stop.

$3 Instant Amazon Instant Video Credit (KSO)

This offer is only for those with a Kindle Fire with Special Offers (KFSO).

From the home page of your KFSO, swipe the top menu to the left until you see Offers, then press/click in order to see the current offers. At the bottom, you should see the offer for $3 to spend on Select TV Episodes. Click on the offer, then on the orange button to add the credit directly to your account. It's nearly instant and the next screen offers to take you to Amazon so you can spend that credit away! If you miss that screen, though, don't worry - a document about the offer will appear on your home page. You must sign up by October 11.

Unlike the previous offer, you can't choose from the entire Instant Video Store, but must use the credit for "television episodes" (rentals and purchases). You can shop from your Kindle Fire or your PC, but you need to check for any individual product that is excluded from this (and all other) promotions, on the product detail page and I don't know if you can see that info on the mobile pages you get on the Fire itself. The credit expires October 18, so be sure to use it quickly.

I'm not sure what (if anything) I'll spend this one. I do wonder if it will work on buying an entire season for a series.

Today's Deals

O'Reilly is having another sale for programming and project managers with 50% off of select eBooks and a videos, using discount code WKGKCD. Expires October 16, 2012 at 11:59pm PT.

At Audible, it's Shock-tober and each week will feature 40+ new titles on sale (and you can still access the previous titles). There is a major theme each week (this week it's Zombies, last week was Vampires), but it's a fairly loose interpretation, as I see an Urban Fantasy in this week's selection that I would not have classified as Zombie Fiction and E. E. Knight's Vampire Earth series in last week's choices (not what you'd think of for vampires, usually).

Heaven is for Real: A Little Boy's Astounding Story of His Trip to Heaven and Back ($1.99 Kindle, B&N), by by Todd Burpo, Sonja Burpo, Colton Burpo and Lynn Vincent, is the Nook Daily Find and the second Daily Deal on Kindle.
Book Description
When Colton Burpo made it through an emergency appendectomy, his family was overjoyed at his miraculous survival. What they weren't expecting, though, was the story that emerged in the months that followed-a story as beautiful as it was extraordinary, detailing their little boy's trip to heaven and back.

Colton, not yet four years old, told his parents he left his body during the surgery-and authenticated that claim by describing exactly what his parents were doing in another part of the hospital while he was being operated on. He talked of visiting heaven and relayed stories told to him by people he met there whom he had never met in life, sharing events that happened even before he was born. He also astonished his parents with descriptions and obscure details about heaven that matched the Bible exactly, though he had not yet learned to read.

With disarming innocence and the plainspoken boldness of a child, Colton tells of meeting long-departed family members. He describes Jesus, the angels, how "really, really big" God is, and how much God loves us. Retold by his father, but using Colton's uniquely simple words, Heaven Is for Real offers a glimpse of the world that awaits us, where as Colton says, "Nobody is old and nobody wears glasses."

Heaven Is for Real will forever change the way you think of eternity, offering the chance to see, and believe, like a child.
