Read an Ebook Week

Once again, it's Read an E-Book Week! For those who are new to ebooks, this is a promotion started by Rita Toews (read the story behind the promotion, HERE), where ebook publishers and authors try to entice us to try them out by offering free and discounted books. Many of these change daily, so I'll try to find them and recap each day. A number are specials that run all week and I'll try to summarize those here today. Many of the deals are ones that are advertised on the Read an E-Book Week page and not all are active (it isn't a normal workday, so I expect some to start working tomorrow), so be sure to double check before clicking, that it is, in fact, free.

Ebookstores and Publishers

Smashwords has a huge number of free and discounted books this week. From the main page, click on Read an E-Book Week Specials on the left/upper side of the page, then use the Filter By links to see just the free (with coupon code RFREE) and discounted books (coupon codes RAE25 and RAE50).

BeWrite Books was a big sponsor last year, but their website is undergoing renovations this week. They have partnered with Smashwords, though, to offer much of the catalog as "Set Your Own Price" - get any (or all) the books for free or donate any amount paid to the Red Cross for Haiti (see details HERE). Other books look to be 50% off with coupon code RAE50.

Kobo Books has a couple of coupon codes available. 4steal will get your $4 off one book, today only, while Read2010 is valid from March 7-13th and will get you any one book for free is good for $1 off any book (or, at least that is what it is advertised to do - so far, it's only giving you 10% off) , as will Buy5 for any five books (today only; this actually worked for more than 5 books, for me), while tweetkobo works for $3 off any title, valid thru March 8, both GET250 and kobo250 will get you $2.50 off, while Buck150 and Love150 work for $1.50 (thru March 31) and ip2 works for $2 off.
