Free Book (Kindle) - The Ice Princess (UK)

The Ice Princess, by Camilla Läckberg, is free for UK customers and only in the UK Kindle store. The US edition is $7.99, but you can actually get a much better deal by grabbing the The Ice Princess and The Preacher ($7.59), which gives you the first two Patrik Hedstrom Crime novels in a single package (effectively making the first book free for those in the US). As near as I can tell, it's also the only way (currently) to get The Preacher on Kindle; for the US, I only see a $17.13 hardcover and a $26.37 audiobook edition (with a US release date of less than a month ago) available for the stand-alone title.

Book Description
For the first time in English, the psychological thriller debut of No.1 bestselling Swedish crime sensation Camilla Lackberg.

Returning to her hometown after the funeral of her parents, writer Erica Falck finds a community on the brink of tragedy. The death of her childhood friend, Alex, is just the beginning. Her wrists slashed, her body frozen in an ice cold bath, it seems that she has taken her own life.Erica conceives a memoir about the beautiful but remote Alex, one that will answer questions about their lost friendship. While her interest grows to an obsession, local detective Patrik Hedstrom is following his own suspicions about the case. But it is only when they start working together that the truth begins to emerge about the small town with a deeply disturbing past.

Free Book (Kindle) - Coming Up Next (UK)

Coming Up Next, by Penny Smith, is free for UK customers and only in the UK Kindle store.

Book Description
When Katie Fisher, morning TV presenter, returns from holiday it's to discover that she's literally yesterday's news. Publicly sacked from her job as anchor of Hello Britain! and replaced by a pert young thing, she does what any self-respecting thirty something would in these circumstances – she makes a dash for her parents and hits the bottle.

But Katie, sooner or later, has to face the world, the photographers, and the backstage intrigue of morning television: the cut-throat, lecherous producers, the ambitious but vacant Keera, and Mike, her co-host, a trustworthy friend or just another one of the many back-stabbers? Humour is Katie's only weapon and, as things hit rock-bottom, it could provide a perfect solution to life after the sofa.Knowing, insightful and darkly comic, Penny Smith's novel is the insider's view of TV.
